How I make coffee…

We started with a standard coffee maker.

We started with an 800W standard drip coffee maker that boils the coffee up through top and the water drips onto a basket of coffee. The coffee then runs into a heated flask The advantage is that it’s easy, put coffee in the filter basket and add water. The problem is that the plastic can be recycled and then contaminate the coffee. It’s also difficult to keep the water path completely clean.

With this very efficient hot water flask I can make coffee easily using battery power. I admit that it is a little more complicated than the coffee maker. But making coffee in a French press is pretty easy and tastes better than the coffee maker version. The heated cup has a large battery that’s charged with a USB-C power supply.

The battery can keep the coffee at a nice 142 Degrees almost all day.

To reduce the sediment in the coffee I actually use a paper filter in the French press.

The three $200 heated cups come with the hardware to make the coffee in them. Ok, $600 is a bit pricey for three coffee cups.

The cups are pretty awesome for hot chocolate too.
